Setting up your eero app and devices

In 5 simple steps

Step 1
Download the eero App
Download the eero app
Download the app from your preferred app store on your iOS or Android smartphone
Set-up your eero account
Open the app to start set-up. During the set-up process you will need your email address and mobile number. You will need to accept eero’s terms and conditions.
Remove your old broadband devices
Unplug your existing routers ready for you new eero

Step 2
Connect your eero to the fibre wall box

  1. Plug the ethernet cable provided with your eero into the wall mounted fibre box port labelled either 1, LAN1 or 10GE.

  2. Connect the other end of the ethernet cable into either ethernet port 1 or 2 on your eero.

Step 3
Power up your eero

Connect the eero to a power socket using the cable provided and wait for the light to show solid blue.

Set up your eero in the app
Open the eero app and press 'Get started'
The app will display screens asking you to connect your equipment. You've already done this, so select 'Next' to continue. The app will locate and configure your nearby eero automatically. If prompted, allow access to Bluetooth, as this is needed for setup.
Enter WiFi details
You will be asked to set a name. You can use your pre-existing WiFi name (SSID) and password to ensure your devices connect to the new eero network automatically.
Set up complete
Your eero is now be set up. Select 'Finish setup' to continue, or 'Add another eero' if you have additional eero's to continue. The app will guide you through the set up and placement of the device to get the best out of your broadband.
Step 5
You're nearly there! Activate your service

You will receive an email before your activation date with all the information you need to activate your service. An activate your service screen will pop up on your mobile phone asking you to fill in some details. Once you complete the details and you are now ready to use your new Gigaclear broadband.

Optional set-up
Connect other devices to your eero WiFi network
If you have used the same WiFi name and password your devices will automatically connect. If you have created a new WiFi name and password, you can start adding your devices to the network.

Add an indoor eero extender

Add eero devices to extend your network to improve your WiFi coverage. Connect to your gateway wirelessly or via Ethernet.

Step 1

From the Home tab, tap on the '+' icon in the top right.

Step 2

Tap 'Add indoor eero', then tap 'Next'.

Step 3

Read through the device placement instructions, and tap 'Next' to continue.

Step 4

Once your new eero device is recognised, the app will run a test to ensure proper placement for optimal coverage.

Step 5

Plug in your new eero device to a power outlet, and tap 'Next'.

Step 6

After proper placement is confirmed, select the location where your eero device resides.

Step 7

If you are done, tap 'Finish setup', or select 'Add another eero' to add additional devices

Optimising WiFi coverage

Thick internal walls, dense building materials, furniture, plumbing, water, and/or other electronics may interfere with your WiFi coverage and performance. We can help you get the best positions for your eero devices.
