The Consumer Electronics Show is the world’s biggest gadget event, where every January the Las Vegas strip is taken over by a procession of shiny new toys. This year’s show was quieter than usual, but it was still home to hundreds of amazing new products. Gigaclear asked some of the best journalists in the industry to report back for us on some of the best new tech on show.

Our top pick for Christmas 2022 is PlayStation VR 2, which offers all-new hypersensitive controllers, beautiful OLED displays and a host of immersive new games, including an all-new entry in Sony’s Horizon series. Samsung also dazzled with the Freestyle TV, a smart speaker-sized portable projector that will turn Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video content into a 100-inch display anywhere you go.

CES also offers up innovations which make you go: “Why hasn’t that been invented yet!?” Take the Samsung Eco Remote -- a TV remote which uses solar power and the RF waves from your WiFi router in order to always stay charged. Razer’s Project Sophia Modular Gaming Desk also eradicates the need for a bulky PC by building the computer into the desk itself. And the Sengled Smart Health Monitoring Bulb helps you stop worrying about family members or elderly relatives by monitoring sleep, heart rate and other vital signs, all from a light bulb.

Cars are always a huge part of CES, and this year the undisputed star of the show was the BMW iX Flow. This concept car is covered in e-ink panels which can change colour or display dazzling patterns as you zip down the motorway. Elsewhere at the show, Sony also showed off its new electric car concept, John Deere unveiled the world’s first autonomous tractor, and Elon Musk dug a mile and half of tunnels under the convention to demonstrate how he soon intends to revolutionise travel in Las Vegas and the rest of the world.
