Setting up your Linksys router

Note: If Gigaclear broadband is being connected to your premises for the first time, an engineer will complete the set-up for you.

If your property already has a Gigaclear connection, you’ll need to follow the instructions below to install your router.

Step 1
Download the Linkys app
Download the App
Download the Linksys app at App stores on your phone (Play on Android - requires Android 9.0 and later, App Store on Apple - requires iOS 14.1 or later)
Turn on Bluetooth
Ensure it is switched on in your mobile device.
Step 2
Identify your wall mounted box

Your Gigaclear wall mounted box will look like one of the examples shown here. Ensure your Gigaclear wall mounted box is powered on at the mains, indicated by the power lights. If you need to power it on, switch it on at the power socket and wait 5 minutes before moving to the next step.

Step 3
Plug in and power up your Linksys router

Plug in your Linksys router to a nearby power socket using the power cable supplied and turn the device on. The power switch is on the bottom.

Step 4
Check the LED light

Once your router has finished starting up the LED light will show a solid purple.

If it doesn’t, your can hold down the reset button on the bottom of the router until the LED indicator turns off. Then release the button and wait for the LED light to display solid purple.

Step 5
Plug in the provided Ethernet cable

Plug in the provided Ethernet cable into the router’s port with the coloured line above it.

Then plug the other end of the cable into LAN 1 on your wall mounted box or the port labelled 10 GE.

Box D Only
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws in the wall mount enclosure and pull away the panel. Once you have connected the ethernet cable, route the wire around the housing enclosure so that it comes through the opening at the bottom. Replace the wall mount enclosure panel and fasten the two screws.
Box E Only
Press the sides of the panel on the front of the box to remove it. Once you have connected the ethernet cable, route the wire around the housing enclosure so that it comes through the opening at the bottom. Replace the wall mount enclosure panel.
Step 6
Wait for the router to connect

The router LED will flash as it connects. After around 5 minutes it will turn solid blue which means the router is online. You can now connect your devices using the WiFi details shown on the label underneath the router.

Step 7
Connect your new WiFi
Make sure the LED light on top of the Linksys router is solid blue - this means your router is ready to be connected.
Connect your mobile phone to your new WiFi
Connect to the WiFi using the WiFi password written on a label on the base of the router.
Open the app
On opening the app and tap 'Manage your WiFi' or 'Log In'. You may be prompted to turn on any permissions (e.g. Allow Network access or Bluetooth) to enable the setup process, please enable them.
Step 8
Set a password
  1. Select the option to sign in with the “Router Password” However, do not enter the router password.

  2. Select the option to “Reset Password”.

Step 9
Create new password
Enter recovery key
You can find the 5–digit recovery key on the label on the base of the router, under the 'Password'.
Set a new password
Once the recovery key is inputted the app will ask you to create a new password. Follow the Linksys password parameters and create a new password. This will not change the Wi-Fi password)
You're all set!

Once your new password has been set, the app will take a few moments to get the ‘router settings’. Once this process is complete, the app will display the home screen and you can view your network.

Emergency Video Relay

This service will enable deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users to contact the emergency services through a British Sign Language interpreter.

How do I access the service?

You can make a call through the 999 BSL app (iOS and Android devices) or website (https://999bsl.co.uk/) to make a call to 999. Your call will go to a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter first, who will appear on the screen. The BSL interpreter will then call the 999 operator through landline and will relay the conversation. More information can be found here: https://999bsl.co.uk/
