Pent up demand drives 40% pre-orders for ultrafast pure fibre broadband

28 October 2014: Gigaclear, the ultrafast, pure fibre broadband provider, has announced the activation of a new network across Otmoor in Oxfordshire. Covering more than 750 properties across the villages of Beckley, Elsfield, Horton cum Studley, Noke, Stanton St. John and Woodeaton, more than 40% of the residents had pre-signed to Gigaclear’s ultrafast service, a record pre-activation sign-up rate for the company.

Gigaclear will be hosting an open day to celebrate the activation of the network, so members of these communities can come and try out ultrafast pure fibre broadband for themselves.

Residents who were previously plagued by unreliable and slow broadband speeds will be able to access consistent and reliable speeds of up to 1000Mbps (1Gbps), meaning they will be able to access all available Internet content and applications no matter how many family members are online, what the weather is doing, or the time of day.

Nick Carter, Councillor at Oxfordshire County Council commented:
“We are aware that a number of residents have worked hard at ensuring superfast broadband is brought to Otmoor, and are delighted that the local community has worked with Gigaclear to deliver this coverage to part of rural Oxfordshire. Our priority is to get as much of the county covered as possible with faster broadband so that residents and businesses can benefit from the ever increasing volume of internet based services and content. Alongside our Better Broadband for Oxfordshire programme we welcome input from a range of commercial providers and community initiatives to help the county access improved broadband speeds.”

Matthew Hare, Chief Executive, Gigaclear commented:
“The record uptake of our services by these communities is a clear sign that villages across Britain are ready for the future. Gigaclear’s pure-fibre networks are bringing that future to them, helping them enjoy life at gigabit speeds and providing infrastructure for the technology of tomorrow, rather than just trying to improve yesterday. With an investment in Oxfordshire of over £4M, Gigaclear is continuing to invest here based on local demand.”

The ultrafast broadband open day will be held at the Millennium Hall, Horton cum Studley, from 09:30 till 16:30 on Saturday 1st November, all are welcome. Bring your own device and take the ultrafast speed challenge.
